Android O update for U11 confirmed by HTC


Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has confirmed Android Oreo update for its flagship smartphone HTC U11 . The company announced the same on micro-blogging website Twitter. The Android Oreo update is likely to be rolled out in the fourth quarter of 2017.
HTC U11 will be the company’s first device to get Android Oreo update. Post this, the update will also be rolled out to HTC U Ultra and HTC 10 smartphones.
The latest version of Android comes with a number of new features such as Native picture-in-picture mode, Smart Text Selection, System optimisations, Notification Badges, Autofill with Google Chrome and an improved battery life.
Android 8.0 Oreo will also get with itself redesigned emojis. Google bid goodbye to the blob-styled emojis sometime back. The new emoji set is supposed to be more user friendly and is said to be in works for an year and a half.
Speaking about specifications of HTC’s ‘squeezable’ smartphone U11, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) Super LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating. Powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB RAM, HTC U11 offers 128GB storage. For more storage space, users can also install microSD card of upto 2TB.
For imaging duties, the smartphone comes with 12MP autofocus rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and Dual Pixel tech. There is a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. HTC U11 houses a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
HTC U11 is Taiwanese smartphone brand’s first device to sport dual digital assistants. The HTC U11 comes with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Apart from these two, HTC’s smartphone comes with the company’s own HTC Sense Companion. Some other smartphones that will be receiving the Android O update include Google Pixel , Pixel XL , Nexus 5X , Nexus 6P , Samsung’s Galaxy S8 + , Galaxy S8 , Galaxy S7 Edge , Galaxy S7 , Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 .
